I don't want to say what I think it could be.I'm not a mechanic by any stretch, so just looking through the clutter of hoses and wiring, not sure where the timing chain cover, well covers exactly. Here are a couple photos, please comment if you think it could be from the timing chain cover or what else it could be. Have had done by mechanic and have done myself alot of work on that truck and would hate to have it all for not. Timing cover gasket leaks can be one of the trickiest leaks to fix. You might also notice oil accumulating on the ground under your engine. You might see oil leaks leaking from the edges of your timing cover. If it is oil from the timing chain cover, then it's all good - if it is what I'm afraid it could be then I've got some trouble. Oil Visibly Leaking from Timing Cover Area. however that 'stain' on the block has me a little concerned, it's been there a while but only recently noticed it was growing. I've thought it could be that timing chain so I'm thinking of having it done, the cam shaft seal is part of that job. The truck has a rattle sound when accelerating, - especially louder when the A/C is on. He was only looking at the oil on the oil pan. I noticed some oil on the front of the oil pan a while back, the stain has gotten bigger overtime, there is also a stain (oil?) on the block next to it (passenger side) - took to a mechanic I know, from a quick look he thinks it is the front cam shaft seal or possibly the timing chain cover gasket.
